hand shaking

Culture lesson
Handshake.

In most western countries the handshake is a greeting mainly for
men. In business or in friendship circles men often greet each
other with a strong handshake. The handshake must be strong
and firm. If a man's handshake is weak most people with think
of him as being a weak or a negative person. Handshakes are not
as common for women but is sometimes used as an agreement.
Like a business agreement or a couple that breaks up and agree
to be only friends because a hug would be uncomfortable.
When giving a handshake usually we use the right hand. It must
be clean and not covered with a glove or something. To refuse
a handshake is very rude and hostile. Handshakes are also used
to say goodbye, congratulations, thank you, long time no see and
good sportsmanship before and after a game.  Sometime a two
handed handshake is used often to show a big thank you or a
big please. In some countries like Turkey kissing on the cheek
is used instead of handshakes. In Islam countries the handshake
is not very common.
